Eden Climate Centre launched the groundbreaking Nairobi Children’s Climate Summit on 6 December 2025 at Koyaro Centre, Kibera. This was a first-of-its-kind initiative designed to empower young delegates from schools across Nairobi County. It transformed them from passive observers into key stakeholders with a formal platform to shape the environmental decisions that define their future.
The summit employed creative, child-centered methodologies including artistic expression, role play, and musical engagement to reinforce the participants' understanding of climate science and, explore solutions to the crisis.
Beyond raising awareness, its core objectives was to build advocacy and leadership skills, foster meaningful peer to peer climate action dialogue, and culminate in the development of child-led climate action recommendations to be presented directly to Nairobi County policymakers. This approach ensured outcomes were both educational and actionable.
By amplifying children’s voices today, we are nurturing the environmentally conscious leaders of tomorrow and laying the foundation for a more resilient and inclusive green future for Nairobi.
